"BE YOU" PROJECT
The first project in my second year at Middlesex University, currently still a work in progress. It is heavily influenced by the Harajuku subculture, using overly cute aesthetic by mixing up elements from the kawaii pastel culture, especially personal prints, with the concept of menswear. This project particularly is close to my heart due to the fact that in today's western society a male is still looked down when dressed up in clothing that is slightly feminine, let alone childish as well.
In my opinion, there is nothing more wrong than telling someone to oppress their style and personality just because it does not fit society's idea of "NORMAL".
Normality is overrated, being yourself is not, so just embrace it.
Just BE YOU ;)
P.S. Also to be noted is that these illustrations are the first attempt at digital illustration, so the results may not be as satisfactory as I would have hoped. Since then my digital art has improved a lot, becoming not only better from a technical standpoint of view, but also more professional.
